A highly intensive three to five week experience that is designed to give young people a missionary introduction. The purpose of this trip is to help them not only to become a more faithful disciple, but to impart to them the vision to be a great commission Christian with a world vision.
A time of training and working on church grounds, TMI is more like an adventure in serving and a spiritual boot camp than a missions trip. The TMI is designed to not only provide a backdrop for life change and growth in our young people, but also has definite short-term goals that benefit the hosting churches. This trip is as long as twenty days in Mexico and immerses the young people into a cross-cultural missions experience. The TMI includes Spanish language training, daily devotions, cultural studies, as well as street evangelism and various outreaches. We will also plan and host a youth retreat for the young people of the area, and do various work projects on the church grounds.
Upon arrival, TMI participants begin a two day orientation taught by the TMI director and the Pastors and leaders of the host church. Orientation includes description of duties, introduction to supervisors and church members, and a conversational language introduction.
TMI is not included in the Timothy Training tuition, however, as a group fundraisers are done and money is raised for all members of the program. Throughout the year we raise money both as individuals and a team to bring the overall price down. Participants can also pay more on their monthly payments to put money aside for the trip. The only requirement is that the trip be paid in full before departure on Friday, March 15, 2001 (estimated cost is $1000).
