Course Description: This is a chapter-by-chapter, subject-by-subject exposition of the book of Acts, with a focus on the pattern of the early church and the challenges it present to the modern church.

Course Objectives:

1. To make the student thoroughly aware of the overall flow and themes of the book of Acts.

2. To consider the theological implications of these themes.

3. To consider the implication of these themes for the local church, in both its life and administration.

4. To help the student apply these themes to his/her personal life.

Course Requirements:

1. Listen carefully to each lesson, taking thorough notes as you do. Then answer the review questions on the Worksheet at the end of the lesson. The Worksheets will be sent back to C.L.T.I. in two groups of 12.

2. Part of the Study Project involves two reading assignments:
• The entire book of Acts must be read through two times, in a different version of the Bible each time.
• The text by Kevin Conner must also be read through.
There is a place at the head of each Worksheet to indicate the completion of these reading assignments. It is recommended that the reading assignment be completed at the beginning of each lesson before listening to the tape.

3. A final aspect of the Study Project involves a brief writing assignment: Write a 600-word character study of either Peter or Paul. You may wish to consult your Bible handbook, dictionary, encyclopedia, commentary, or other sources with background information. Focus on the role these men played in the establishment of the early church. This paper must be typewritten and double-spaced.

4. There will be an exam following Lessons 1-12 and 13-24. A final exam will then be given when all the work for the course has been completed.
