Course Description: An introduction to counseling including a review of major behavioral models. Basic counseling techniques and skills are treated in depth.

Course Objectives:
1. To introduce the Biblical principles of counseling.
2. To explore the format for effective Christian counseling.
3. To discuss their implications for specific counseling situations.
4. To equip toward a ministry of Christian counseling in the local church.
Course Requirements:
1. Listen carefully to each lesson, taking thorough notes as you do. Then answer the review questions on the Worksheet at the end of the lesson. The Worksheets will be sent back to C.L.T.I. after lessons 12 and 24.
2. Complete the Study Project along with the lessons as indicated on the Worksheets. The Study Project involves a "Counseling Quizbook" that asks specific study questions of Adam's Manual. Do not send the Study Project in to the C.L.T.I. office until you have completed the entire project at the end of the course. NOTE: Lessons 3 and 4 discuss the first part of the Study Project. However, please read chapters 1 through 6 in the Manual and write out the answers to the study questions on the Study Project at the end of Lesson 2.
3. Read Psychological Seduction and write a 1,000 word summary of the book. This summary must be typewritten and double-spaced. It will be due at the end of the course.
4. Adam's Casebook is provided as a supplement to the Manual. Seven lessons in the course are based on the Casebook. Please do any seven other cases not covered in these lessons, type out your answers and turn them in at the end of the course.
5. There will be an exam following lessons 1-12 and 13-24. Both exams will be mailed out after the related Worksheets have been graded. A proctored comprehensive final exam will be mailed after all the rest of the work has been completed and turned in.
