Course Description:

A study of the life, ministry, and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ taken from the parallel Gospel accounts.

Text:

The Jesus I Never Knew by Philip Yancey.

Jesus Christ: The Greatest Life Ever Lived compiled and translated by Johnston M. Cheney and Stanley Ellisen.

Course Objectives:

1. To become familiar with the background, events, and chronology of the life of Christ.

2. To get to know Jesus by considering His attitudes, actions, emotions and teachings.

3. To emphasize the theological, spiritual and practical elements of the life and ministry of Christ.

4. To consider His goals, motivations and methods in fulfilling His Father's will.

5. To motivate the student to personally apply His example and teaching.

Course Requirements:

1. WORKSHEETS. Listen carefully to each lesson, taking thorough notes as you do. Then answer the Review Questions on the Worksheet at the end of the lesson. Worksheets in groups of 12 will be sent back to the C.L.T.I. office at the end of lesson 12, 24, and at the end of the course.

2. EXAMS. There will be an exam following Lessons 1-12, 13-24 and 25-36. A comprehensive final exam will be proctored when all the work for the course has been completed.

3. STUDY PROJECT.

A. Read The Greatest Life Ever Lived with each lesson. The worksheets will guide you in what pages to read. Mark your reading on the worksheet.
B. Read The Jesus I Never Knew and write a book review, using the review format attached.
C. Writer a 1,500-word paper, either on the subject, "Jesus, the Master Teacher," or "Jesus, the Miracle Worker." Choose key passages, research the facts, make observations and conclusions. The paper should be typewritten and double-spaced.
