NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY
Course Syllabus

Credit Hours: Two

Course Description: A survey of the books of the New Testament, emphasizing their historic and thematic connections as well as the message of each individual book. The books are viewed both individually and collectively.

Text: The Bible is the primary text for the course.

Malmin, Ken & Conner, Kevin. New Testament Survey. Portland: B.T. Publishing, 1975.

Course Objectives:

1. To describe the religious background of the New Testament.

2. To understand the order of events in the narrative.

3. To become familiar with the origin, authorship, and design of each book.

4. To see the unfolding of God's revelation to His people.

5. To see the practicality of God's Word and it's impact on areas of our lives.

Course Requirements:

1. The Worksheets and their Study Questions at the end of each lesson must be completed.

2. Included on the Worksheets are Text and Bible Reading assignments that must also be completed. These worksheets need to be sent in groups of 12 (lessons 1-12, then lessons 13-24) to CLTI to be graded.

3. There will be two essay exams: after lessons 12 and after lesson 24.

4. There will also be a final exam at the end of the course.

5. A Study Project will be due at the end of the course, as follows: Do a background study of one of the cities mentioned in the New Testament. The purpose of this study is to familiarize you with a more indepth understanding of those areas where the events of the Bible were enacted. The study should include: background information on the city, events that took place there, and passages of Scripture in the New Testament that mention the city. The project should be typed and at least 1000 words in length. Any bibliographical material used should be annotated.
