Course Description: "A study of the books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, showing how they relate to Old Testament history and the eternal purpose of God."

Text: Hamilton, Victor P. Handbook On The Pentateuch. Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1988.

Course Objectives:

1. To become comfortable reading and interpreting Old Testament literature.

2. To lay a foundation of understanding of the beginnings--of creation, the fall, the flood, the calling out of the people of God, etc.

3. To gain an understanding of and appreciation for the Law, including the priesthood, offerings and feasts of Israel.

4. To discuss the personal application of the message of the Pentateuch.

Course Requirements:

1. Listen carefully to each lesson, taking thorough notes as you do. Then answer the review questions on the Worksheet at the end of the lesson. The Worksheets will be sent back to C.L.T.I. in three groups of 12.

2. Read the books of the Pentateuch, following the reading schedule on the Worksheets.

3. Read the text by Hamilton, once again following the reading schedule on the Worksheets. At the end of the course write a 750-word review using the Book Review Format provided.

4. Choose one of the Civil Laws (p. 75 in the notes) and write a 1,000-word devotional essay on it. Read each of the scripture references given and prayerfully consider the ways in which that law is relevant to the present. This paper must be type-written.

5. There will be an exam following Lessons 1-12, 13-24 and 25-36. A comprehensive final exam will be proctored when all the work for the course has been completed.
